SummitUp: A Social Media Confab in Dayton October 19th

Registration is now open for the second annual SummitUp event which this year will be held at the Sinclair Community College Ponitz Center in downtown Dayton.

SummitUp is a full-day social media seminar being presented by a team of Dayton organizations including the Greater Dayton Advertising Association, Dayton chapter of the American Marketing Association, the Dayton Creative Syndicate, Technology First and a few others. 

This year SummitUp will feature keynotes from my old boss back in my PlanetFeedback.com days Pete Blackshaw, John Moore, Steve Lance and Brian Solis.  There will also be breakout sessions on a variety of social media topics by local Cincinnati & Dayton social media experts including including Kevin Dugan, Kendra Ramirez, Michael Rubin, David Esrati, Debba Haupert and Krista Neher. 

Not only will there be A TON of great social media content and networking opportunities, but also included are a continental breakfast, lunch AND books from 3 of the keynote speakers.  The event is only $139 for members of the presenting organizations and $179 for non-members, so it is an event where you really do get a lot for the money.

Learn About Google AdWords at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber

On August 11th I will be giving a presentation at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber on Google AdWords.  I'm really looking forward to this event!  Here are the details including a link to the Chamber's website to register for the event.   

The 90-minute presentation is titled "Google AdWords: Getting the Biggest BANG for your Online Advertising Bucks".  I'm going to be going over how AdWords works and how businesses can cost-effectively run online advertising campaigns that produce measurable results.  While the focus will be on Google AdWords, I will also be emphasizing the importance of having specific advertising goals, how easy it is to track online advertising effectiveness and how this can fit into an organizations' overall marketing plan.  If you have friends, prospects or clients that are "on the fence" about advertising online or have expressed an interest in learning about how to advertise their business online, this would be a great event for them to attend.  I'm not going to be using PowerPoint much, it's going to be a high-energy and fun presentation that also has a lot of info.

Museum of Advertising Overview from Pete Healy & Meredith Holthaus

Interview of Steve Deiters & Lauren Anderson of The Creative Department

Recently I stopped by the offices of Cincinnati ad agency the Creative Department in Over The Rhine and interviewed co-founders Steve Deiters & Lauren Anderson.  The Creative Department was founded in 1992 and provides traditional and interactive strategy, branding and advertising management services.  We briefly touched on the Creative Department's services, clients and projects including  Yagoot Yogurt.

Basic SEO for PR Pros

I'll be speaking to the Cincinnati chapter of the PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) on Monday,  May 24th at Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati on the topic "Basic SEO for PR Pros".

Bold Fusion 2010 Preview

Last week I stopped by the offices of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and interviewed Julie Bernzott to get a preview of this year's Bold Fusion event on April 29th from 1-5 at the Westin in downtown Cincinnati. 

Bold Fusion is the annual Cincinnati young professional summit that attracts several hundred of the brightest and most creative people in the area to come together to discuss current and future business trends and network.  This year's theme is "Press Pause and Realign: Using trends and innovation to tinker and tweak your way to a better future" and the event features a keynote by David Pescovitz, co-editor of BoingBoing.net

Favorite Interactive Marketing Tools

The topic for this Wednesday's Cincinnati AMA Interactive SIG is "Favorite Interactive Marketing Tools". 

It will be a group discussion in which everyone in attendance will have an opportunity to talk about his/her favorite tool for doing Interactive marketing and hear about the favorite tools of others.  Is there a software program, iPhone app, web-based application or website that makes managing your online marketing work a little easier?  A colleague might benefit from hearing about what tools you use, and you’re certain to find out about a few tools that could help you!

BlogWell Cincinnati Event on April 7th: How Big Businesses Use Social Media

Next month a big blogging event will occur in Cincinnati.  BlogWell Cincinnati will be held Wednesday April 7th at the Duke Energy Convention Center.

Foursquare Marketing at March Interactive SIG, Dynamic Logic AdReaction at Web Analytics Wednesday Meeting

The Cincinnati AMA Interactive SIG and Web Analytics Wednesday - Cincinnati meetings for March are this Wednesday, March 10th and are down the street from one another.

The topic for this month's Interactive SIG discussion is Marketing of Location Based Services such as Foursquare, Loopt & Gowalla.  We'll cover some case studies of how some businesses are using these services to generate business and monitor what is being said about their brands as well as some tips for using these services effectively.  The Cincy AMA Interactive SIG is from 11:30AM - 1:00PM at Web Media Tools at 18 W. 7th Street, 3rd floor and is free for AMA members and $10 for non-members.  You can Register Here for the Cincinnati AMA March Interactive SIG.  Foursquare is a really hot topic right now and there was an article about Foursquare in the Cincinnati Enquirer this weekend so this should be a  really good discussion. 

The March Web Analytics Wednesday - Cincinnati meeting this month is also focused on social media as Lindsay Leon-Atkins of Dynamic Logic will be sharing highlights from the company's AdReaction study of social media.  Dynamic Logic's 2009 AdReaction study provides insight and first hand reactions from consumers regarding online advertising, including their likes and dislikes.  The Web Analytics Wednesday event is at 6 PM at BlackFinn, 19 East 7th Street and you can Register Here for the Web Analytics Wednesday Cincinnati March meeting.   

     

Call for Entries Announced for Ohio Interactive Awards

Organizers of the Ohio Interactive Awards are calling for entries to find Ohio's top digital and interactive talents.

Digital and interactive professionals working in Ohio can visit http://ohiointeractiveawards.com to submit their entry in one of six categories covering: Advertising, Sectors/Industry, Social Web, Student, Best Integrated Campaign, and Best Use of New Technology. Agencies submitting three or more entries become eligible to be nominated by judges of the program for Interactive Agency of the Year. Additionally, nominations are being sought for Interactive Marketer of The Year

The awards ceremony, which will be held at the Arena Grand Theatre in Columbus on Thursday April 29th, will feature a keynote by Tim Schigel, CEO of ShareThis speaking on the topic "Sharing to Influence: The State of the Social Web".
